Chapter Business and Industry Workforce Developer Award - Download

Overview

Epsilon Chapter members understand the importance of the role that business and industry play in insuring the success of Iota Lambda Sigma and Alabama Career Technical Education. This award recognizes a business or industry that has shown support of the Epsilon Chapter of Iota Lambda Sigma and/or Career Technical Education. The winner is announced and presented a plaque at the Annual Meeting held in conjunction with the Professional Development Conference for Career Technical Educators. The Epsilon Chapter winner is forwarded to the Grand Chapter and will be presented a certificate at the Grand Chapter Breakfast in conjunction with the annual ACTE Convention.

Guidelines

  • Nominees must be submitted by an Epsilon member by the deadline.
  • Nominations are mailed to the Epsilon Chapter Awards Chairperson.
  • A one page explanation of why the nominee is deserving of this award must accompany the nomination.
  • Membership in the Epsilon Chapter is not required for nomination.

J.F. Ingram Distinguished Service Award - Download

This award becomes the Raymond Christensen Distinguished Service Award at the Grand Chapter level.

Overview

The J. F. Ingram Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to a member of the Epsilon Chapter of Iota Lambda Sigma who has made an outstanding contribution to a chosen profession, to Iota Lambda Sigma- Epsilon Chapter, to society, to education or to their country. The winner is recognized with a plague at the Annual Epsilon meeting during the Career Technical Professional Development Conference. The recipient then becomes the Epsilon Chapter nominee for the Raymond Christensen Distinguished Service Award. The Raymond Christensen Distinguished Service Award recipient is recognized at the Grand Chapter Breakfast during the annual ACTE Convention.

Guidelines

  • Contributions must have been achieved within the previous ten (10) years.
  • The individual must be a current member of Epsilon Chapter for a minimum of five years.
  • The nominee may be employed or retired.
  • Life and Emeritus members are considered active members.
  • Complete the nomination form. The nomination form can be downloaded from the web site.
  • Include at least three letters of support that verify the contributions made.
  • Mail completed form and required information to the Epsilon Chapter Awards Chairperson.

Epsilon Outstanding Member Award - Download

Overview

The Epsilon Outstanding Member Award is presented annually to the member of the Epsilon Chapter of Iota Lambda Sigma who exhibits dedication in service to and in the promotion and growth of the Epsilon Chapter. The winner is recognized with a plague at the Annual Epsilon meeting during the Career Technical Professional Development Conference. The recipient of the Epsilon Outstanding Member is recognized at the Grand Chapter Breakfast during the annual ACTE Convention.

Guidelines

  1. Contributions must have been achieved in the past year.
  2. The individual must be a current member of Epsilon Chapter for a minimum of two years.
  3. The nominee may be employed or retired.
  4. Life and Emeritus members are considered active members.
  5. Demonstrates strong interest and involvement in Epsilon Chapter
  6. Demonstrates a commitment to excellence in professional endeavors.
  7. Demonstrates interest in civic responsibilities.
  8. Mail completed form and required information to the Epsilon Chapter Awards Chairperson by the deadline.

Distinguished Teacher Award - Download

Overview

The Epsilon Distinguished Teacher Award is presented annually to a member of the Epsilon Chapter of Iota Lambda Sigma who is engaged in teaching full time. The winner is recognized with a plague at the Annual Epsilon meeting during the Career Technical Professional Development Conference. A letter of recognition is sent to the recipient’s employer. The recipient of the Epsilon Distinguished Teacher Award is the chapter nominee for the Grand Chapter Distinguished Teacher Award. The Grand Chapter Distinguished Teacher is recognized at the Grand Chapter Breakfast during the annual ACTE Convention.

Guidelines

  • Must be employed as a full time teacher in one of the following areas: Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Technology Education, Trade and Industrial Education, Family and Consumer Science, Health Science or other Career Technical Education programs.
  • The individual must be a current member of Epsilon Chapter.
  • The nominee must have provided outstanding leadership in one or more areas.
  • Contributions must have been made within the past five years.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to excellence in professional endeavors.
  • Demonstrates interest in civic responsibilities.

Procedures

  1. Complete the nomination form.
  2. Include a description of the outstanding contributions.
    • Limit to two double spaced pages.
    • Describe contributions made to: meeting students’ needs, impact on student achievement, curriculum, enrollment, job success and job placement.
  3. Include letters of support from at least two persons who verify contributions.
    • Include innovative and unique programs, leadership, promotion or development of programs.
    • Include activities and service in ILS and Epsilon Chapter and other professional and civic programs.
  4. Attach all required additional information to the nomination form. Mail completed form and required information to the Epsilon Chapter Awards Chairperson by the deadline.

Randall Peacock Lifetime Achievement Award - Download

Overview

The Randall Peacock Lifetime Achievement is presented annually to a member of the Epsilon Chapter of Iota Lambda Sigma who has made outstanding contributions to Iota Lambda Sigma- Epsilon Chapter and to the Grand Chapter. The nominee should reflect the commitment to Epsilon Chapter exemplified by Randall Peacock. The winner is recognized with a plague at the Annual Epsilon meeting during the Career Technical Professional Development Conference. The recipient advances to the Grand Chapter level for the Lifetime Achievement Award. The Grand Chapter recipient is recognized during the Grand Chapter Breakfast at the annual ACTE Convention.

Guidelines

  • Nominee must have a strong record of involvement in local chapter activities.
  • A record of involvement with Grand Chapter activities. (The nominee shall NOT be a Grand Chapter officer during the year in which nominated)
  • The individual must be a current member of Epsilon Chapter for a minimum of ten years of continuous membership.
  • The nominee may be employed or retired.
  • Documentation of outstanding contributions to the areas of training, workforce development and career technical education. This could include important work experiences.

Procedure:

  1. Complete the nomination form.
  2. Include a description of outstanding contributions. Include honors, awards, achievements, offices held, etc. related to contributions or service.
  3. Include at least three letters of support that verify the contributions made.
  4. Attach all required additional material or information to nomination form.
  5. Mail completed form and required information to the Epsilon Chapter Awards Committee Chairperson by the deadline.

Chapter Scholar of the Year Award - Download

Overview

Epsilon Chapter members understand the importance of supporting deserving students in their pursuit of education. Each year Epsilon Chapter awards student scholarships. This award recognizes one scholarship winner who exhibits extraordinary characteristics. The recipient is selected by the Epsilon Scholarship Committee members. The winner is announced and presented a plaque at the Annual Meeting held in conjunction with the Professional Development Conference for Career Technical Educators. The Epsilon Chapter winner is forwarded to the Grand Chapter and will be presented a certificate at the Grand Chapter Breakfast in conjunction with the annual ACTE Convention.

Guidelines

  • Nominee must be submitted by chairperson of the Scholarship Committee prior to the Spring Meeting.
  • Nominee’s name is mailed to the Epsilon Chapter Awards Chairperson.
  • A one page explanation of why the nominee is deserving of this award must accompany the nomination.

Bill Provost Technical Lab Scholarship - Download

Student Guidelines

  1. Student is enrolled in a career technical program that includes one of the following:
    1. Industrial systems and maintenance
    2. Electrical or Electronics Technology
    3. Welding Technology
    4. Automotive or Diesel Technology
    5. Construction Technology
    6. Heating and Air Conditioning
    7. Pre-Engineering
  2. Student is planning to pursue postsecondary training in a technical area that corresponds with one of the programs listed above. He/She must be enrolled in a program to receive the scholarship funds.
  3. A letter of recommendation from the student’s career technical instructor must accompany the application.
  4. The student should supply all other requirements listed on the student scholarship form.

Teacher Guidelines

  1. For the teacher scholarship, the teacher should be pursuing either certification or a higher degree in one of the following:
    1. Industrial systems and maintenance
    2. Electrical or Electronics Technology
    3. Welding Technology
    4. Automotive or Diesel Technology
    5. Construction Technology
    6. Heating and Air Conditioning
    7. Pre-Engineering
  2. A letter of recommendation from the teacher’s career technical director must accompany the application.
  3. The teacher should supply all other requirements listed on the teacher scholarship form.
